YMCA Hires New Member Services Director

After an extensive search, which resulted in more than 20 applications, local and outside of New Mexico, the Los Alamos Family YMCA has selected Stephanie Beguin as its new Member Services Director.

Beguin has been a Los Alamos resident for more than 33 years, After graduating from Los Alamos High School, she briefly moved to California to pursue a career in sales. 

Following the birth of her son, Beguin chose to move back to Los Alamos to give her son the benefit of a small community and family that she had always valued growing up in Los Alamos. She developed a love for the Y while raising her son in Los Alamos.    

“While single handedly raising my son in this community I was able to count on The Family Y to offer a great place to work out for myself and sports programs that my son enjoyed,” Beguin said.

She bringsmore than 25 years of diverse business experience to Y family, including experience in management, training, sales, marketing and youth leadership. Her experience includes time as a co-owner of a local business along with her family called ‘The D.O.M.E.’ (Dynamic Outdoor Mountain Experience), a sporting goods store operated in Los Alamos for more than 10 years, administrative and training experience at Los Alamos National Laboratory, management at Nordstrom and Donna Karan & Co.

In addition to her work experience, Beguin has extensive volunteer experience including coaching youth soccer, teaching youth hip hop classes and fundraising for the LAHS Basketball Booster Team. 

As a long-time resident and previous business owner in Los Alamos, she values the importance of family and community and she possesses the necessary tools to be a part of a successful business team.

“I am so excited to be a part of an organization that promotes wellness, community and family.  I can’t wait to meet and get to know the great staff and great members that make it possible,” Beguin said.
