YMCA News:
Registration has opened for the Y’s enriching child care programs, including Summer Camp and After School. The registration fee of $25 will be waived for parents who registering by April 19. Additionally, the Y is hiring staff to deliver exceptional programming now and this summer.
Child Enrichment Coordinator Janine Morales said all childcare programs have adopted Covid-19 safe protocols, which are available on the Y’s website, laymca.org. The programs require participants to wear a mask and follow numerous safety guidelines, she said.
Current participants can register by calling 505.662.3100. New registrants can download forms and turn them in at the Y, 1450 Iris St.
Morales said the Y’s childcare programs are especially important now to help youth reconnect with friends and to help children enjoy the benefits of enriching out-of-school time programming.
She said the Y also is looking to hire caring adults to provide excellent guidance and fun programming to our children. She said staff take First Aid and CPR, Child Protection training, and undergo criminal record background checks.
“We’re always looking for passionate people, people that have a heart for kids and can bring the best parts of themselves to positively influence the young lives in our programs. We just want great people capable of doing great things,” Morales said.
Morales encouraged parents to register early, even if it looks like they must go on a waiting list, because this will help the Y obtain adequate space for all programs.
Morales said the Y offers sibling and discounts to children who are Y members. She said financial assistance (application online) is available for parents in need.
“The Y is a nonprofit charitable organization, and thanks to donors, we make sure everyone can be a part of Y programs,” Morales said.
Prices per program may be found online at laymca.org/2021-spring-summer-programs.
