About Beta Sigma Phi

Beta Sigma Phi is an international woman’s service (not academic) sorority founded in 1930, with 5 chapters in Los Alamos. The other chapters assist us on the day of the craft Fair. There are about 50 members in town, prior to COVID there were about 70.

Fundraising – All of Xi Nu’s profits are donated to charities and are used to help support the Chapter’s designated community service projects in Los Alamos County and throughout Northern New Mexico. This is our only fundraiser of the year and the other local chapters support our craft fair. There will be a raffle.  Each vendor is asked to donate an item of their choosing to the raffle.  Xi Nu member, Alice made a Christmas quilt (56×72 inches) of a red pick-up truck in the snow (photo attached).  Need not be present to win (we deliver). Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

Recipients of funds raised include but are not limited to:

Local – Alpha Zeta Chapter of BSP – for the Adopt -a-Family program, BESC – Festival of Trees, LA Self Help, LA Cares, LAHS Senior Appreciation Night, Los Alamos Museum of Art, LA Council on Cancer, LA Heart Council

Regional – Friends of Bandelier, Land of Enchantment Wildlife Foundation, Espanola Wildlife Center,

National & International – TOTH Mexico Mission – House Building, Red Cross, Wounded Warriors, National Federation of the Blind, Organizations for Research or treatment of Breast Cancer, Leukemia, Childhood Cancers, Heart Disease.  We previously donated specifically to a girl in Africa whose parents both died of AIDS until she finished High School.
