…A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON MST TUESDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON MST TUESDAY.

* LOCAL IMPACTS…TRAVEL COULD BECOME DIFFICULT DUE TO WET SNOW AND SLUSHY CONDITIONS ALONG N.M. 4 BETWEEN LA CUEVA TO LOS ALAMOS AND ALONG HIGHWAY 84 BETWEEN TIERRA AMARILLA TO THE COLORADO BORDER.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…1 TO 3 INCHES BELOW 7,500 FEET AND 3 TO 6  INCHES ABOVE 7,500 FEET. LOCALLY UP TO 8 INCHES ABOVE 9,500 FEET ALONG THE WEST SLOPES OF THE SANGRE DE CRISTOS AND TUSAS MOUNTAINS.

* TIMING…MAIN ACCUMULATION BETWEEN 2 AM MST TO 10 AM MST ON TUESDAY.

* WINDS…SOUTHERLY WINDS 10 TO 15 MPH THROUGH MIDNIGHT BECOMING WESTERLY 10 TO 20 MPH BY SUNRISE. LOCALLY HIGHER ALONG THE HIGHER PEAKS OF THE SANGRE DE CRISTOS.

* SNOW LEVELS…SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER SIGNIFICANTLY BETWEEN MIDNIGHT TO 6 AM…GENERALLY ABOVE 9,500 FEET AROUND MIDNIGHT AND LOWERING TO AROUND 7,500 FEET BY MID MORNING.

…PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM TO IMPACT THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF NEW MEXICO…

.A PACIFIC TROUGH ACCOMPANIED WITH A VIGOROUS COLD FRONT WILL PROVIDE WINTRY WEATHER TO PORTIONS OF NORTHERN NEW MEXICO TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL BE FAIRLY HIGH THROUGH MIDNIGHT BUT THEN LOWER SIGNIFICANTLY AS COLD AIR PLUNGES INTO NORTHERN NEW MEXICO BEHIND THE COLD FRONT. THE MAIN SNOW ACCUMULATION IMPACTS WILL BE ABOVE 8,000 FEET.

SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS-JEMEZ MOUNTAINS-WEST SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS-NORTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ABOVE 9,500 FEET/RED RIVER-SOUTHERN SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS ABOVE 9,500 FEET-EAST SLOPES SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS-UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY.
