Will Banister and the Modern Day Ramblers will entertain the crowd during the Family Council’s Boots and Badges fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday, Veterans Day, at Buffalo Thunder Resort.
Addition to the live performance by the Country Western singer, the event will feature a dinner, dance and auction fundraiser. The event will raise funds for the nonprofit organization but also give recognition to the community’s selfless first responders and veterans.
Banister, according to his website, first gained attention when his “Turned Her On To Country” album gathered a rave review in the consumer monthly publication, “Country Music People”.
The article reported that Banister recorded the album when he was only 23 years old and he wrote all the songs on the album.
Banister, who lives in New Mexico, is drawn to classic country songs. He and his band have received much praise for their work, including Best Country and Best Country CD at the 30th Annual New Mexico Music Awards for their CD, “What a Way to Live,” according to his website. The music awards were held in May.
The community is encouraged attend the Boots and Badges event Saturday to support Banister as well as the Los Alamos Family Council.
“The support of the community is really important to us because we are a nonprofit and the funds we get through grants is limited,” LAFC Executive Director Joy Beery told the Los Alamos Daily Post in a previous interview.
She explained that through the years she has seen the needs of the community grow. Clients seeking services at LAFC is now about a 50/50 split of Lab and non Lab individuals.
