LIBRARY News:

The west side of Sherwood Boulevard is scheduled to be paved Tuesday, which will mean the blocking of driveways leading to the Library, Skate Park, and Youth Activity Center (YAC) at various times during the day Tuesday.

Because there will not be a safe or open route to get to and from the Library and Youth Activity Center during the paving operation, both will be closed.

White Rock Branch Library will not open at 10 a.m. as usual on Tuesday morning. “It’s clear we won’t be able to open first thing in the morning,” Thomas said. “If conditions allow, the Library could re-open on Tuesday afternoon or evening.”

The Branch Library is normally open until 9 p.m., Tuesdays, and will re-open as soon as they get the all-clear from the contractor and Public Works Department. “We’ll be monitoring the paving throughout the day, and will open as soon as conditions permit,” Thomas said.

Youth Activity Center Paul Martinez said that he also believes that closing on Tuesday would be in the best interest of the families who use the Center. “We think the uncertainty is probably harder on parents than having them know they mightneed to make other arrangements for that day,” Martinez said. He will be contacting the parents of the “regulars” that come to the WR YAC to let them know about the temporary closure
