The annual July 4th Children’s Parade and Carnival will be held again this year at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 366 Grand Canyon in White Rock.

The Children’s Parade begins at 10 a.m. after a brief flag ceremony and singing of the National Anthem. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will lead the parade. Children of all ages are invited to decorate their bikes, trikes, wagons, scooters and themselves to march in the parade, which is escorted by the Los Alamos Police and Fire Departments.

The parade route is less than one-half mile and begins and ends at the Church parking lot.

A carnival will follow the parade on the shady back lawn of the church. There will be games and face painting, as well as a bounce house, dunk tank, bubble house, obstacle course and water slide. There also will be balloons, snow cones, popcorn … everything is free. The carnival ends about noon.

This tradition began more than 35 years ago as a small family neighborhood celebration in White Rock and has grown to involve about 1,000 people each year. Everyone is invited to come and participate and celebrate the 4th of July, 2016!
