NMHM News:

SANTA FE — New Mexico History Museum (NMHM) is shaping its place in the lives of New Mexicans using an online questionnaire to understand the experiences and views of museum visitors.

NMHM is a hub for New Mexico history and culture, bringing many perspectives together in a common space. As the museum looks to the future, it wants to hear from people across the state about its work so far—about the stories told, the programs offered, and the communities supported. It wants to know what New Mexico residents think about their history museum. NMHM’s online questionnaire gives people across the state a chance to speak up for what they want. With public input, the museum hopes to understand the needs of visitors and create a space where everyone feels welcome and inspired.

“We are committed to creating a museum that is relevant and engaging for all New Mexicans,” NMHM  Executive Director Billy G. Garrett said. “This feedback is an important part of that process, and we encourage everyone to participate.”

The museum wants your ideas for the museum. What stories fire up visitors’ hearts, minds, and imaginations? How should these stories be told? Which perspectives are generally missing from stories already being told? Insight from this questionnaire will shape the museum’s work on exhibitions, programming, and more. This is an opportunity for people across the state to have an impact on one of their most important institutions. The museum is excited to hear from anyone who wants to take part.

The questionnaire is already live at tinyurl.com/NewMexicoHistory! It takes about 10 minutes to complete and will be available through Nov. 19, 2023.
