LAPQG News:

Wendy Mathson is an author, teacher, designer, inventor, illustrator, lecturer and general quilt fanatic.

She has been quilting for more than 30 years and will present her lecture and trunk show “Scrap Management” at the next meeting of the Los Alamos Piecemakers Quilt Guild.

The meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at White Rock Baptist Church. Experienced and new quilters are invited to attend the Guild meeting.

Mathson uses her collection of antique quilts, plus some of her own creations, to illustrate and teach some of what she has learned in the process of making loads of “scrappy” prayer quilts.

She loves coming up with ideas for improved piecing techniques, and has invented a system of cut-after-you-sew tools called Quilters’ TRIMplates®.

Her book, “A New Light on Storm at Sea Quilts: One Block, An Ocean of Design Possibilities” was published in 2009.

Mathson also will conduct her Storm at Sea workshop 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at White Rock Baptist Church.
