SANTA FE — The Los Alamos Softball team only needed six innings to claim the district 2-5A Championship Monday afternoon, with a mercy-rule victory over Capital High School 12-1 in the afternoon game of a doubleheader.
Topper Junior Reyna Lucero pitched a complete game giving up two hits, two walks, and striking out seven batters to secure the victory.
Topper Senior Shelby Milligan lead the team, going three for three with three RBIs and was hit by a pitch while batting in two runs and scoring three times. Sophomore Alicia Gonzales went four of five, knocking in three runs.
In the evening game the Toppers, having already clinched the district 2-5A title, jumped out to a 13-2 lead and were never in any trouble beating Capital 17-7 to cap the night.
