Safety is always a businesses number one obligation and Wanga International Safety Consulting strives to help companies meet this obligation.
Owners Scott and Dalila Hafer established their business in 2018 and opened their Los Alamos office in January at 2470 East Road, Ste. D.
Wanga is a full-service company, which addresses health, safety, environmental and industrial hygiene needs.
Wanga offers complete written safety and health programs/policies, to include training employees who are new to the programs and what responsibilities go along with the programs.
Additionally, Scott said, they can review and update existing programs, and provide documented reviews for project environmental and industrial hygiene. He said they also provide third party site visits that will be complemented with written follow-up reports. They provide drug test collection at their 2470 East Road location for new employees and post incidents. Finally, Wanga International Safety Consulting offers industrial hygiene services such as onsite silica and asbestos monitoring.
Wanga International Safety Consulting also offers:
- Fall prevention;
- Personal protective equipment;
- Excavation awareness;
- Job safety analysis;
- Hazard communication;
- Heat and cold stress safety;
- Confines Space Entry;
- Material handling safety;
- Supervisor and leadership responsibilities;
- Fork truck safety;
- Welding cutting and brazing safety; and
- Hand and power tool safety.
Local nurse Edith Danielson is part of the team to offer training and certification in FA, CPR, BLS, ACLS and PALS.
“Whatever safety assisted needs are required, we have that capability,” Scott said. “We do include safety consultant placement. We do understand that some jobs require daily/weekly onsite support. We can help finding folks for placement.”
Scott brings a lot of experience to the business; he has been in the safety industry for 31 years.
Scott said he obviously does not know it all, however; “Safety, to me, is a calling. It’s a daily interaction with people and helping and supporting them to live long and happy lives with their families.”
“It’s not about the money,” Scott added. “It’s about the people.”
He met his wife in Mozambique, which also is where they founded their business. They decided to open the consulting firm, Scott said, because “both of us have an entrepreneurial spirit.”
Plus, Scott joked, “My wife said, ‘Quit talking about it and get it done!’”
Just how did they end up in Los Alamos?
“Life’s path has led us here to Los Alamos,” Scott said. “We very much like the Los Alamos area. It is a nice community, a family-oriented community.”
Scott emphasizes that they are here to serve the entire community – whether that is Los Alamos Medical Center or Metzger’s Do It Best hardware store. Scott and Dalila emphasize they are not just a construction driven firm. They can provide safety services for all walks of business.
“We understand that places can’t always afford a full-time safety person so we can work with clients on an as-needed basis,” Scott said.
He explained that a lot of contractors work for the laboratory, but many local businesses can’t afford it and that is where the as-needed basis comes into play.
