Vote YES For Kids! Campaign Raises $412,428 To Pass Early Childhood And Public School Funding Ballot Initiative

VYFK News:

Monday the Vote YES for Kids! campaign announced raising $412,428 in the first financial reporting period since the campaign’s creation. Vote YES for Kids! reports having $356,540 cash on hand moving into the next reporting period.

Vote YES for Kids! is a New Mexico political action committee organized to support an initiative that will appear on the state’s November general election ballot. If approved, the initiative would increase New Mexico’s distribution from the Permanent School Fund for public schools as well as create a new distribution from the Fund for quality childcare and early education.

“Vote YES for Kids! is organized and ready to take our message to New Mexico voters. If approved, the Vote YES for Kids! ballot initiative will bring transformational change to the way that we envision childcare as well as early and public education in the state,” said Oriana Sandoval, Chair of the Vote YES for Kids! Campaign. “We are asking New Mexicans to envision the childcare and public education system of their dreams – and then to Vote YES for Kids in November so that we can make that vision a reality.”

Vote YES for Kids! plans to hold a number of organizing meetings around the state in April and May, with intentions to formally launch the campaign in early May.

“For over a decade, parents and teachers pushed for legislation that would send the Vote YES for Kids! initiative to voters, and now the time is here for voters to decide. We are pushing full force to make sure that we have the people power and financial backing to ensure that voters understand the magnitude of the decision that will be before them in November,” Ivydel Natachu, an early educator from Zuni Pueblo added. “Approving this initiative could truly change the game for kids and parents, for our public schools, and for childcare providers all across New Mexico.”
