Volunteers Needed In Support Of Valles Caldera National Preserve Visitor Services Operations

VCNP News:

Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) released has announced on Volunteer.gov to add to its volunteer ranks supporting visitor services operations. Duties include handling bookstore sales in the Valle Grande Bookstore operated by Los Amigos de Valles Caldera.

Volunteers are part of the National Park Service Volunteers in Parks (VIPS) program and require a background/reference check.

DESCRIPTION

Visitor services volunteers at Valles Caldera National Preserve support the interpretation team by greeting park visitors at the visitor facilities, providing orientation and safety information, and assisting with bookstore sales.

DUTIES

  • Welcome visitors to Valles Caldera National Preserve
  • Share knowledge of the park’s primary resources, recreation opportunities, rules, and regulations
  • Answer any visitor questions in-person and via phone or email
  • Handle bookstore sales through a cashless payment system
  • Clean and restock the visitor facilities
  • Assist with providing interpretation and education programs
  • Communicate with supervisor about scheduling
  • Maintain visitation statistics
