Local non-profit organizations are powered by volunteers who serve on boards, fill food boxes, run education programs, help neighbors, enrich life with music and so much more. All local volunteers are invited to join the Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) and Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) at the Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center 3-4 p.m. Friday, April 4, for a community-wide celebration of volunteering. Ice cream with choice of toppings will be served at this free event and registration is not necessary.
Attendees are encouraged to wear a shirt, pin, hat, etc. advertising the organization with whom they volunteer. The hope is see a wide range of organizations represented at the event.
“This is our small way of thanking the volunteers who make our community a better place,” LACF Executive Director Liz Martineau said. “It is also an opportunity to meet other people who value volunteering.”
It’s not too late to make a difference and anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to check out local opportunities on VolunteerLosAlamos.org, which is managed by LACF. The website is free to local non-profit organizations thanks to sponsorship from N3B. Nonprofit organizations are invited to create a profile and update volunteer opportunities.
