Village Arts News:

Village Arts welcomes the public to a feast for the senses with its new exhibition “Food Glorious Food!” on display through Sept. 21. More than 20 artists came to the table with food inspired creations that would be the envy of any farmer’s market!

These artists provide nearly 50 pieces of food inspired creations, and the results read like a page spread from the “Very Hungry Caterpillar”, except that the beaded “Strawberries” look even more tasty!

This Bake Off is up to you, so come and vote for your favorite pieces where nothing is over baked or under proved, presentation is key, and perhaps you’ll fall in love and take home some food for the soul!

Artwork covers nearly all the food groups from apples to zucchini, and spills over into everything else we love about food! Needsomething to chew on? Check in with Eileen Patterson’s Bubblegum Dreams Collage! Craving your just desserts? It’s impossible to go wrong with Melissa Alexander’s wearable “Box of Chocolates – No Calories” or Lydia Marshall’s “Ice Cream” trio. You can even live the artist experience over a table of Ramen with Van Gogh and Gauguin and glimpse a Hopperesque Andy Worhol enjoying his tomato soup in pieces by artist Michael Andryc!

Stroll past paintings, mosaics, beaded works, drawings, photographs, and knitted work that would be the envy of any farmer’s market. The tropical produce of Phyllisha Hamrick’s “Fruit at the Beach”, collaged citrus, pears, and apples in Sue Ellen Hain’s “Fruitful Feast” and E.E.Aicher’s watercolor “Ely Berries” take viewers from coast to coast. Rachel Pearson’s pastel “Red or Green?” and Fran Stoval’s “Chile Ristra” bring the harvest back closer to home.

This show has everything you need for the ultimate spread, with extra helpings of vegetables in Ted Greer’s photograph “Donna’s Garden” and Carolyn Bossert’s meticulously rendered scientific illustrations “Artichoke” and “Spring Dance” to counteract Gloria Sharp’s batik “Hamburger Heaven” and Seth Dustin’s gouache “Spice Cake”. You can even bookend the meal with an eye on Bonnie Dickman’s “Boxed Wine” and end with her “Nutty Nuthatches”.

“Food Glorious Food” might be the only 40 course meal you’ll ever attend, so take the fork in the road and drive down to 216 DP Road.
