‘Valles Caldera Winter Fest’ March 9, 2024

Whether one prefers to be warm and cozy by the fire or outside playing in the snow, there will be plenty of winter wonderment and fun to discover at Valles Caldera Winter Fest.

This event, which is geared toward children and families, takes place Saturday, March 9, at the Ranger Station at the VallesCaldera National Preserve.

Schedule of Events in and around Ranger Station: 

  • 10 a.m. – Snowflakes (ages 4+)
  • 11 a.m. – Winter Soundscapes Ski Tour (ages 16+)
  • 11 a.m. – Reading with a Ranger (all ages)
  • 11 a.m. – Snowman Building Contest (all ages)
  • 11:30 a.m. – Animal Tracks (ages 4+)
  • 12 p.m. – Facepainting (all ages)
  • 1 p.m. – Reading with a Ranger (all ages)
  • 1:30 p.m. – Winter Survival Game (ages 4+)

Self-guided Opportunities:

In addition to the ranger-led programs and activities throughout the day, visitors may participate in self-guided, self-paced Winter Fest activities:

  • Winter Scavenger Hunt (all ages)
  • Snowshoeing (all ages)
  • Cabin District Audio Tour (all ages)
