Mark your biking calendar Aug. 2 for the 2nd annual Valles Caldera PyroClassic XC Mountain Bike Race. Join the fun for what may be one of the most scenic and challenging mountain bike races in New Mexico.  

The Race courses for Pro/Cat 1, Intermediate /Cat 2, and Beginners/Cat 3 will cover the stunning landscape of the Valles Caldera National Preserve, winding through valley meadows and climbing over the flanks of the volcanic upheaval of 11,000 ft. Redondo Peak. The PyroClassic offers race categories for everyone.

All races start and finish near the historic Valles Caldera Ranch Headquarters with Cat 3 doing a 9 mile loop, Cat 2 an 18 mile loop, and the Pros/Expert will tackle the 30 mile Redondo Peak/Alamo Canyon Loop. Climbing on the expert/intermediate course is substantial, with a total ascent of more than 2,400 ft. for the experts, all at an elevation of more than 8,000 ft.

There are cash Prizes for Pro, SS, & Overall Cat 1 and medals/product prizes for all other categories as well as free T-shirt for first 100 adult registrants.

Early on-line Registration is $50/adult, $20 juniors through July 25;  $60/adult, $30 Juniors July 26-31 and Saturday afternoon, Aug. 1 at Race staging area, 1-4.

Pro/cat 1 must present a USA Cycling license at packet pick-up. Cat 2&3 riders may participate on a 1 day license available here; https://www.usacycling.org/events/?state=NM or on-site.
