Utilities Drop Box Vandalized – Payments Stolen

News Alert:

Officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) warn customers that payments made over the weekend in the payment drop box were stolen.

The payment drop box located at the County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave., was vandalized Saturday. Placed outside near the mailboxes, the drop box was a convenient way for customers to make payments after hours.

Customers affected are those who made payments using the drop box sometime after 3 p.m. Friday, July 10. DPU advises those customers to take precaution and call their banks to stop payment. DPU also requests those customers notify the 311 Customer Care Center at 505.662.8333.

The Los Alamos Police Department is investigating the incident. DPU apologizes for this inconvenience to its customers.
