Update: Water Repair On Diamond To Roll Into Weekend

COUNTY News:

Water repair work that began today will continue into the weekend and is expected to be completed Saturday.

The work impacts traffic on Diamond Drive passing the Los Alamos County Golf Course.

The westbound bicycle lane and the traffic lane adjacent to it will remain closed overnight and until the work is complete. A temporary bike lane is established in the right-hand closed traffic lane.

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) Water Production crews will return around 8  a.m. Saturday to continue repair efforts.

The work zone starts approximately 0.2 miles west of Club Road. Motorists and bicyclists should watch for and adhere to traffic controls, and exercise caution while passing the work zone.

The damaged line is a 16-inch transmission line that feeds water to Barranca Mesa and North Mesa. The leak was caused by a defective manufactured fitting.
