Come celebrate Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site’s grand opening fiesta capping more than two decades of anticipation as the Department of Cultural Affair’s eighth historic property.

Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site’s Grand Opening Fiesta includes a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, followed by tours of the historic site and shows on the Mesilla Plaza by Performers of the Mesilla Valley, Ballet Folklorico Corazon de Las Cruces, Ballet Folklorico Herencia Mexicana, Mariachi Aguilas, La Academia Dolores Huerta, Las Cruces High School, and Mariachi Plumas.

Community partners will be hosting booths on the plaza with family-friendly activities including New Mexico Museum of Space History, Las Cruces Public Libraries, the Wonders on Wheels Mobile Museum, Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park, the Town of Mesilla, and the NMSU Art Museum.

Presented by New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, New Mexico Historic Sites, and the Friends of Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site, the event launches an exciting new era of cultural programming for the historic town of Mesilla celebrating the history of New Mexico’s borderlands, and showcasing a stunning collection of folk art.
