UnQuarked, The Wine Room has a busy schedule planned for the next few weeks:
Sunday Opening – UnQuarked, The Wine Room is now open noon to 4 p.m. Sundays
Labor Day Weekend – The New Mexico Wine Festival at Bernalillo is no more. RIP. This year, you can hang out with us up here in the cool shade of the trees. We will be open Saturday, Sept. 5, noon to 10:30 p.m.; Sunday and Monday, Sept. 6-7, noon to 6 p.m. Check back for details on entertainment, wine classes, and more.
Salsa Dancing – Every Wednesday, 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Free lessons start at 7:30 pm with Robert Zimmerman and Ashlynn Daughton.
If you do not wish to dance, just come in and watch the show over a glass or two of wine.
Tango Night – Saturday, Aug. 15, 7-11 p.m.
At this point, we are hosting Tango Nights monthly. Based on your requests, we are considering more Saturday evening dance events.
Poetry on the Hill – Sunday, Aug. 16, noon to 4 p.m.
Featuring John Macker and Amalio Madueno.
This new monthly poetry series focuses on some of the top Central New Mexico poets.
- Sept. 20: Michelle Holland and Elizabeth Raby
- Oct. 18: two Los Alamos poets to be named
- Nov. 15: Lauren Camp and Rich Boucher
$5 cover goes entirely to pay poets a small honorium. Open reading follows featured readers. Bring a poem.
Science on Tap – Thursday, Aug. 20
We will also be hosting Art on Tap and History on Tap
Wine and Food – Friday, Aug. 21, 6:30 p.m.
Jim Fish, winemaker at Anasazi Fields, will be sampling their regular wines as well as rare and unique wines from the winery library. Bring samples of your most wild and exotic culinary delights and challenge Fish to come up with a wine to dance with each dish.
The three winemakers are taking turns hosting wine education events. Watch for Wine and Food offerings on a regular basis. Depending on grape harvest, Tony Black, winemaker at Black’s Smuggler Winery, will host an event in late September.
Adult Mentalist Magic Show – Robert C. Lopez, Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.

Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour – Fridays, 4-5 p.m.
Teachers receive $1 off on a glass of wine or a wine flight.
Saturday Evening Happy Hour – Every Saturday starting Aug. 15, 5-6 p.m. $5 wine flights.
