UNM-LA Special Election Town Hall Wednesday

UNM-LA News:

The staff and faculty of the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA), invite the community to attend a Town Hall meeting 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7 at the White Rock Baptist Church sanctuary, 80 N.M. 4 in White Rock.

The Town Hall meeting will give the community an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming special election being put before the voters Sept. 17.

The meeting will start with a brief presentation by UNM-LA Dean of Instruction Dr. Cynthia Rooney, highlighting the reasons why passage of the mil levy is critical to UNM-LA.

A Town Hall question and answer session will follow, moderated by Mike Wismer, former Los Alamos County Councilor and co-chair of Our Community, Our College. Our Community, Our College is the group formed to spearhead the campaign supporting the election.

The money generated by the two-mil increase will be used to fund programs at UNM-LA. If passed, this would be the first operational increase since the branch campus was formed in 1980.
