UNM-LA Holds Home-School College Day

UNM-LA News:

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos invites the public to Home-School College Day. The event will introduce students in grades seven through 12 and their families to the college campus.

Home-School College day is 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 13. An RSVP is appreciated and ensures that the campus will have sufficient food and information packets for everyone attending.

The event will begin in the Student Center, with a welcome speech. Then, students and family members will take a tour of campus and sit in on mini-lectures from professors about some of the classes UNM-LA offers regularly.

The College Day will take place in conjunction with the UNM-LA Student Government Mixer, “Explore Your Future.” At this mixer, faculty will have displays and information from their departments on the degree programs they offer and the career paths in each field.

A wide variety of studies will be represented, including fine arts, fire science, business, math, health science, engineering, computer technology, communications and applied technologies. Visitors are invited to share in this event and explore the pathways offered here as well.

Advisors from UNM-Albuquerque will also be on campus to meet with students interested in pursuing bachelor’s degrees. The UNM-LA community invites students to take advantage of their presence and learn where a UNM-LA education can lead.

Visiting college campuses is an essential part of preparing students to take advantages of a college education. We want to make this opportunity available to every student. Contact Grace Willerton at (505) 661-4690 or gwillert@unm.edu with questions or to RSVP.

“This is a special event for our campus and one that our faculty and staff look forward to. We hope that you will be able to share this experience with us,” UNM-LA Academic Advisor Grace Willerton said.
