The Los Alamos County Council has proclaimed Nov. 30, 2021 Giving Tuesday. Council Chair Randall Ryti presented the proclamation Nov. 16 to United Way of Northern New Mexico Executive Director Monica Griego and Los Alamos Community Foundation Executive Director Rachel Kizielewicz proclaiming Nov. 30 ‘Giving Tuesday’  in Los Alamos County.

Giving Tuesday is a national movement created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown to inspire hundreds of millions of people across the world to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Each year, Giving Tuesday falls on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. For more information, visit www.givingtuesday.org.

Nonprofits in Northern New Mexico are encouraged to participate in #GivingTuesdayNM this year to take advantage of the charitable giving momentum that this day generates nationwide. Nonprofits can promote the event to donors and friends on social media to encourage giving and may want to have a donor provide matching funds to match all gifts generated on #GivingTuesdayNM to help build excitement and momentum!

Community members are encouraged to donate to their favorite local nonprofit on #GivingTuesdayNM.

“There is tremendous need in our region for citizens to work together to share commitments, rally for favorite causes and give whatever they are able to give.
