Newly elected President Stephen Boerigter of the United Way of Northern New Mexico Board of Directors addresses representatives from area nonprofit organizations at Tuesday evening’s annual meeting at UNM-LA. Through this year’s annual fundraising campaign, United Way has $586,458 for 2015 Community Action Fund giving to nonprofits. The partnership between United Way and Los Alamos National Laboratory enhances the quality of life for residents in Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties. Through a community investment from Los Alamos National Security (LANS), United Way is able to work with, and support other nonprofits on pressing challenges in the areas of education, financial stability and health needs. LANS’ investment also covers administration fees so 100 percent of LANL employee pledges go to nonprofits. Photo by Carol A. Clark/ladailypost.com
