Unitarian Church Members Learn About Colores United

Far left, Ariana Saludares, president and co-founder of Colores United in Deming, along with her colleagues, speaks to Unitarian Church of Los Alamos members, center, Tyler Taylor, and Susan Dryja about the work Colores United does during a presentation Thursday night at the Unitarian Church. Colores United is an advocacy group for asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border. They manage a large shelter for asylum seekers as well as offer assistance projects on both sides of the border. Saludares said 100 asylum seekers enter New Mexico a day. She added that the issues at the border are complex and there is a lot of work to do. However, ‘When you have the need and the people, we have to continue to respond’. Colores United emphasizes to everyone seeking its assistance that they are not alone and that there is hope, Saludares said.
