The Unitarian Church of Los Alamos kicked off its Summer Blockbuster series Saturday with a screening of ‘Arrival’. The screening was followed by a sermon of the film’s themes Sunday. Rev. John Cullinan explained the series has been held for 10 summers. He got the idea from another Unitarian minister but ‘I’m a huge movie fan’, Cullinan said. He added that the Unitarian Church pulls its messages fron everywhere, including pop culture. ‘Nothing is just fluff,’ Cullinan said. Three more films will be screened during the series. The next one is ‘Moana’ at 7 p.m., Aug. 12 followed by a sermon of the movie at 10:45 a.m., Aug. 13. The admission to the movie is free as well as the popcorn. People also are welcome to have dinner at 6 p.m. but contact Cullinan at revjohn@uulosalamos.org or visit facebook.com/uulosalamos for details. Photo by Kirsten Laskey/ladailypost.com
