The LAYSL U11 Pumas ended the season playing in the Nov. 12-13 season ending, Duke City Gaylord Sheppard Soccer Tournament in Bernalillo.
This is the first year this group has been together as a Competitive Team and their First Tournament. The Pumas finished the regular season with 2 wins, 2 ties and 4 losses in the Bronze Division of the Duke City League. The Pumas were entered in the Bronze Division and played 2 games Saturday, winning them both, 6-0 and 6-1 respectively.
All 14 kids, including guest player Haiden Jorgenson who played Sunday, contributed to these wins with amazing Defense and Goalkeeping. Justin Vest led all scorers with 7 goals in 2 games. The Pumas also played 2 games on Sunday winning the first one 2-0 and finishing off the Tournament with a hard fought 1-1 tie to go undefeated for the weekend and finished in 1st Place!
Eddie Gartz, Justin Vest, and Maddox Martines gave us speed and agility in the front; Jackson Boone, Cohen McKown, Lyas Eidenbenz, Leland Parker, Ty Gartz, Jason Zhao, and Haiden Jorgenson supported the Midfield with poise and control; Zack Mauro, Gavin Mitchell, Cody Thomas, Jack Hawkins and Mason Gill defended the goal with aggression and vigor, combined with great goalkeeping from Leland, Jackson, Haiden, Maddox and Cohen the opponent only found the back of the net 2 times!
This Team was coached by Vance Boone, but many thanks must be given to Kelly Gill, Evan Gartz and Masoud Zadvikilli for their guest coaching and expertise in different areas and to all the parents for the love and support they give these wonderful boys. We will have a few indoor and outdoor practices over the Winter and start the Spring Season in March.
