Two Agenda Items Removed From July 15 Council Work Session To Be Re-added For Discussion Before Aug. 31

COUNTY News:

Two agenda items previously scheduled for the Tuesday, July 15 Los Alamos County Council work session have been removed due to scheduling conflicts and will be placed on an agenda soon. The items require no action and are expected to be discussed at a Council meeting before the end of August, with a specific date still to be determined.

The items include a presentation on the 20th Street mixed-use redevelopment project and a quarterly update on the Council’s Strategic Leadership Goals, specifically the goal of “Operational Excellence”.

20th Street mixed-use redevelopment project

The Community Development Department (CDD) will update the Council and the public on the 20th Street mixed-use redevelopment project. As part of the presentation, staff will share information about negotiations with a selected development partner to purchase and improve county-owned parcels collectively known as the 20th Street site, located on the south side of Trinity Drive. Plans for the site include a mix of residential units, small retail or commercial space, and structured parking.

Following the discussion and direction from the Council, CDD will return two additional times, for a formal introduction and then a public hearing, during which the Council will consider whether to approve the agreement and authorize the sale of the property for development. More information on the 20th Street mixed-use redevelopment project is available on the County website.

Quarterly update on Council’s strategic goals

County Deputy Manager Juan Rael will provide a quarterly update on the Council’s Strategic Leadership Goals. He will focus on progress toward “Operational Excellence” through various County action items. These efforts support delivering effective, efficient, and reliable services; maintaining and protecting assets and infrastructure; and attracting and retaining employees. Individuals interested in tracking the County’s progress can explore the performance metrics dashboard online.

Details about the Council work session, scheduled at 6 p.m. July 15 at the White Rock Fire Station #3, 129 N.M. 4, and the agenda are available online here.
