The Los Alamos MainStreet and Creative District (LAMSCD) reminds the public of road closures taking place today, June 20, and Saturday, 21, due to ScienceFest events.
There will be traffic impacts during the Los Alamos ScienceFest, particularly during the Night Market and Discovery Day events on both days.
Key Traffic Impacts:
- Today’s Road Closure – Central Avenue from 20th Street to Oppenheimer Drive will be closed 4-9 p.m. during the ScienceFest Night Market.
- Today’s Night Market – (North side of Ashley Pond): 5-9 p.m., featuring more than 30 vendors and taking place during the Friday Night Concert at Ashley Pond Pavilion.
- June 21 Road Closure – Central Avenue from 20th Street to Oppenheimer Drive will be closed 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the Discovery Day event (The Justice Center parking lot will be closed during this time.)
- June 21 Discovery Day – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ashley Pond Park.
- The public should be aware that there will be increased traffic – expect a significant increase in vehicle, shuttle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic in the downtown area, especially around Ashley Pond Park and Fuller Lodge.
Motorists Urged to Slow Down:
- Drivers are encouraged to slow down and watch for pedestrians and cyclists in the affected areas.

- ScienceFest events are free and open to the public;
- Discovery Day offers hands-on STEM demonstrations, activities, music, and food vendors;
