Traffic Alert: North Road Closed At Diamond Drive

Traffic Alert:

The Department of Public Utilities reports that a water break, which occurred Thursday morning, forced a closure of North Road at Diamond Drive.

While the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews were able to isolate the line at noon Thursday and stop the flow of water, North Road was compromised and remains closed to all vehicles.

Traffic to and from the Quemazon community is being rerouted on Sycamore Street.

County crews will be evaluating the integrity of the affected roadways and more specifically the sub-grade material beneath the asphalt, where the water ran though.

“Safety of the traveling public is of the utmost concern and the crews will work on a temporary fix to get the road open as soon as safely possible,”  Traffic & Streets Division Manager Juan Rael said.

Permanent repairs to the waterline will be scheduled in the spring by DPU crews. For more information contact the Customer Care Center at 505.662.8333 or CustomerCare@lacnm.us.
