Tourism Department To Host Google SEO Workshops For Tourism Businesses In 12 New Mexico Communities

NMTD News:

SANTA FE ― The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD), in conjunction with Google and Miles Partnership, will be hosting free, hands-on workshops to help local business owners who cater to travelers and visitors better understand and leverage search engine optimization (SEO) for their business.

New Mexico will be the first state to deploy the program at the statewide level.

Participants in these workshops can expect one-on-one training and troubleshooting on issues pertaining to SEO, along with access to free tools and solutions to boost visibility through Google platforms.

“Google Maps and other Google platforms are used very frequently by visitors throughout the travel experience,” Tourism Secretary Jen Paul Schroer said. “NMTD is happy to provide tourism businesses with the opportunity to enhance SEO and help put New Mexico on the map.”

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham identified tourism as one of the state’s critical sectors for diversification of New Mexico’s economy. Through this statewide workshop program, tourism businesses will have more tools and training to help grow tourism and New Mexico’s economy.

Data from Miles Partnership indicates that completion of these workshops contributed to an increase of 29 percent in verified Google listings and an increase of 14 percent in websites added to Google listings.

NMTD will be hosting 12 workshops throughout New Mexico starting Nov. 18.
