The Toppers burst out onto Sullivan Field Thursday evening to play a nonconference game against the Pojoaque Elks. The Elks are a longtime rival and the games are always fast and furious, and this game was no different. It was a penalty-marred chippy contest with 32 penalties and 2 Elks ejected from the game. The Elks had a good first quarter but started to feel the power of the Toppers and just could not keep up with the Toppers for the rest of contest and the Toppers pulled ahead to win 58-20.
