The Topper Boys and Girls Tennis teams worked their way through the brackets in near 100-degree heat Thursday at the tennis complex on the Albuquerque Academy Campus, to play Saturday in the State Championship singles 1A-4A matches.

On the Boys side, Owen Dooley faced #4 seed Joseph Braun from Albuquerque Academy.

Dooley started out with a 5-2 lead in the first set, but Braun rallied and won in three sets, 7-6, 3-6, 6-0.

On the girl’s side, Kate McDonald faced Isabella Voinescu from Santa Fe Prep who won in straight sets 6-1, 7-6, (7-5).
