SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos Hilltoppers Tennis team competed at the Academy Invite Tournament this weekend along with many of the top tennis teams in New Mexico.

Eight teams participated, including 5A standouts La Cueva High School and Albuquerque High School, and top 4A teams, Los Alamos, Albuquerque Academy, and Santa Fe Prep.

Los Alamos won their group without dropping a match with 9-0 wins against 5A Rio Rancho, 5A Eldorado, and 4A Santa Fe Prep. In the Saturday afternoon championship match, Los Alamos was short a top player due to illness, and fell in a hard fought match to a very strong La Cueva team led by last year’s 5A singles champ Ketan Garg.

The Los Alamos girls also competed at the Academy invite and continued to make good progress, finishing fourth overall, highlighted by a good win over 5A Eldorado.
