The Los Alamos Hilltoppers played the lady Sundevils Thursday evening in Griffith Gymnasium in a district contest.
Los Alamos overcame 14 errors in set 1 and turned it into a 3-0 sweep of the Espanola Sundevils.
The front row combined for 37 kills led by Natalie Gallegos with 18 and Eden Schmierer with 8. Ariel Edkin continued to deliver in the middle with 5 kills of her own.
The back row stepped up with 33 solid passes on 39 attempts and only 4 dig errors the entire night. Elise Olicas led the way serving with no service errors followed by Ariel Edkin with 1 service error and 12 points off serve.
The Hilltoppers were able to remain determined and stay mentally tough after 9 straight errors in set one to go down 14-7 and at one point be down 22-17. The team regrouped and showed passion and confidence in the comeback. Set 2 was a return to the focus they have shown and a line to line set win.
Set 3 saw many players get touches and contribute as they controlled the game and pulled away after being knotted at 18 all.
