Topper Football Has Big District Win Over Manzano

Melaki Gutierrez intercepted a Monarch pass in the end zone and ran it back 105 yards for a touchdown in a district game played Friday evening against the Manzano Monarchs on Sullivan Field. The Toppers dominated the Monarchs on both offense and defense and allowed only one touchdown in the closing minutes of the game and a field goal. The final score was 48-9. The Toppers next outing is Thursday against the Valley Vikings to be played at Milne Stadium in Albuquerque. The game will be broadcast on the Daily Post YouTube channel. The 100 member Topper Marching Band performed their field show titled ‘A Pirate’s Journey’ as they prepare for the upcoming band competition.
