SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos High School Topper Boys Soccer Team traveled to Taos Tuesday afternoon to play the Taos Tigers in a post season game on the journey to the State Championship.

The Tigers were the favorite as they won the prior two regular season games against the Toppers.

The Tigers played most of the game in front of the Toppers’ net, but the Toppers defense was able to keep them out of good shooting position with the help of an outstanding performance by Topper goaltender Jaxson Martines. Martines made many critical saves and held the Tigers to only one goal.

The Toppers scored two goals to win the contest 2-1 and progress to the State semifinals.

The next game is 5 p.m. today at Albuquerque Academy.
