Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) hosted the Community Asset Awards ceremony earlier today at historic Fuller Lodge. Tony Hinojosa of Mountain Elementary School took home the 2024 Spirit of the West Award. Hinojosa is the Physical Education teacher at Mountain. He is engaged in the community and the state like no nominee ever seen before. The Spirit of the West is named for former County Councilor Jim West. The award is handcrafted by Richard Ronquillo and staff at Rich Welding, LLC. The Pride of the Mountain Lions was nominated by Principal Megan Lee. Look for more on the 42 award nominees this week.
