Time Out Pizzeria on Central Avenue in Los Alamos will close its doors at 9 p.m., Friday, but will reopen in a new location later this year, owners Omar and Trisha Sanchez told the Los Alamos Daily Post this afternoon. The White Rock location on N.M. 4 will remain open and the Los Alamos team will transfer over there.

Omar Sanchez said they are looking for a smaller and more affordable location for the popular pizzeria and hope to make an announcement in the near future. Meanwhile, equipment and appliances will be placed in storage as well as a substantial collection of sports memorabilia from the restaurant. The Sanchezs believe it will take a couple of weeks to clear everything out.

The Los Alamos Time Out opened in 2013 and the White Rock location has been open for more than 10 years. Trisha Sanchez said they notified their employees about three weeks ago and were delighted to be able to keep all 23 employees in jobs.

“We consider our Time Out employees as family,” she said. “They are all transferring to White Rock for now and we hope our Los Alamos customers will continue to visit us there.” She added that Time Out will continue to deliver large orders to regular clients such as the schools, Los Alamos Medical Center and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Both Time Out locations are popular with families because of their arcade rooms and facilities for birthday parties and meetings. The 30-inch Pizzazilla, which feeds about 15 children is a big hit as well as pizzas specially decorated with initials, hearts, wedding bells and prom invitations. Omar Sanchez said the White Rock location will continue to have its arcade room, pool tables, air hockey, and shuffleboard. A meeting room, which accommodates 20 people is available at no charge just by calling to reserve it.

Many customers take advantage of the drive-up at the White Rock Time Out.

“You can place an order by phone from home and just drive over in your jammies and pick it up,” Trisha Sanchez said.

Time Out has been recognized for its many contributions to charitable causes in the area, including their donation of pizza and a DJ for a Relay for Life fundraiser at the Posse Shack this Friday. They have donated gift certificates for many raffles and silent auctions, and given boxes to local schools for art projects.

All the Los Alamos Time Out favorites also are available at the White Rock pizzeria, including their Touchdown, Fielder’s Choice and Calypso pizzas. Their signature meatball, Philly cheesesteak and Deluxe Italian sandwiches are on the menu as well as their different daily calzones, several types of chicken wings and pasta dishes. For dessert, there’s soft-serve ice cream, milkshakes, pudding and more.
