YMCA News:

The Family Y’s Red and Black Ball begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 22. “East Meets West” is the theme of this year’s festivities at the Buffalo Thunder Hilton – Tewa Ballroom.

The Red and Black Ball raises funds for the Family Y’s financial and youth programs and kicks off the Annual Campaign. The Y’s goal for 2014 is $130,000. In 2013, more than $120,000 was given in financial aid and support for youth programs. It is the Y’s policy that no one is turned away due to inability to pay.

Join The Family YMCA for the social event of the season, which includes a fun evening of delicious food, lively silent and live auctions and an extreme dance party.

For the first time, individual tickets are available for this very popular event. Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased by emailing or online until March 18 at Note that $75 of the $125 ticket price is the value of the goods and services received. Therefore, $50 is considered a charitable donation to the extent allowed by law.

The popular ball features a silent and live auction that includes a 10-night stay in Kona, Hawaii. In keeping with the East Meets West theme, the scrumptious dinner includes:

  • No-host reception w/ butler-passed hors d’oeuvres
  • Spicy coconut curried soup
  • Fresh seasonal vegetables w/ crispy wonton strips
  • Miso-marinated short ribs
  • Wasabi mashed potatoes
