SANTA FE — The Lensic presents accomplished adventurer, writer and sustainability advocate Rick Ridgeway at 7:30 p.m. June 2.

Ridgeway will talk about his adventures, passions and 2021 memoir Life Lived Wild: Adventures at the Edge of the Map (Patagonia Books, 2021). 

Tickets are $20 and available starting at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22 at Lensic.org, 505.988.1234, and The Lensic Community Box Office, 211 W. San Francisco St., in Santa Fe.

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period. Ridgeway’s books will be for sale in the lobby before and after the event.

About Rick Ridgeway 

Ridgeway is recognized as one of the world’s foremost mountaineers. With three companions, he was the first American to summit K2, and he has completed other significant climbs and explorations on all continents. He has written seven books and many magazine stories, and he has produced and directed dozens of television shows. Ridgeway has been honored with National Geographic’s Lifetime Achievement in Adventure award and the Explorers Club’s Lowell Thomas Award.    

For 15 years, Ridgeway was vice president of environmental affairs and then vice president of public engagement at Patagonia, Inc. During his tenure he worked with teams to develop and launch environmental and sustainability initiatives including Freedom to Roam, the Footprint Chronicles, the Responsible Economy Campaign, and Worn Wear. He was founding chairman of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, which developed the Higg Index (a tool for measuring value chain sustainability) and is today the largest apparel, footwear, and home-textile trade organization in the world.  

An advocate for corporate sustainability, Ridgeway is an emeritus board member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and on the board of its for-profit arm, HiggCo. He also serves on the boards of Tompkins Conservation, Turtle Conservancy, One Earth and Kiewit Family Foundation.   

Ridgeway lives in Ojai, Calif. and has three children and four grandchildren.
