The Finishing Touch is moving up … one storefront to be exact. It may be just a short walk from its original location, but The Finishing Touch’s future site offers double the space. This means more products and services will be featured in the store.

Owners Marcelo Ruano and Julio Gaytan said they will begin moving in mid-March from #174 to #170 Central Park Square and expect to be completely relocated by July 1.

The new store will host at least 15 new product displays.

“We’re bringing more products and services,” Gaytan said.

New additions include cabinets, counter tops as well as a broader selection of merchandise.

Walking around the new expansive space, which holds several rooms, Gaytan and Ruano said one room will feature different types of back splashes and the kitchenette area will be remodeled into a complete kitchen showroom.

The space also will have a new Hunter Douglas window coverings display as well as an area for tile, carpet and wood flooring. Gaytan said they are considering bringing in appliances.

Additionally, Gaytan pointed out they will continue to offer financial services to customers.

He said it was decided to move because, “We’re running out of space for more products.” When they found out the bigger unit was available, they decided it was the right choice. Ruano added that the new space helps them to offer more options to the community and allow residents to be able to shop in town rather than drive to Santa Fe or Albuquerque.

Ruano and Gaytan took over ownership of The Finishing Touch in November. They purchased the business from Cheryl Sowder who operated it for 38 years. Although they have only had the business a few months, Gaytan said the community’s response has been tremendous.

“The response has been great,” he said. “We didn’t expect that response so quick. We just want to keep providing the best service that we can with the best quality of products we can at affordable prices.”
