Andrew Paulson is an operatic baritone residing in Santa Fe. Recognized for his “strong voice” and “convincingly authoritative character,” his recent engagements include the Marchese (La Traviata) with Opera Southwest, Jim Crowley in An American Dream by Jack Perla (Virginia Opera, Anchorage Opera and Opera Maine), soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Richmond Symphony, Bello in La Fanciulla del West, and Starveling in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Virginia Opera. Other career highlights include Paul Jobs in the world premiere workshop of The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs and Happy in La Fanciulla del West with Santa Fe Opera, as well as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Prince Ottokar in Der Freischütz, and the Mandarin in Turandot with Virginia Opera. He has also performed Germont (La Traviata) with Opera on the Avalon, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, and Roger Chillingworth in The Scarlet Letter by Lori Laitman with Opera Colorado. In addition to his operatic engagements, Paulson has also performed with the Utah Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, and Tallahassee Symphony. Works include Orff’s Carmina Burana, Dvořák’s Te Deum, Handel’s Messiah, and McCullough’s Holocaust Cantata.
Richard Bentley earned his B.M. in Piano Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and his M.M. from U. of Michigan’s School of Music. From Boston to Palm Springs to Santa Fe, Bentley taught in community schools of music, performed in solo and chamber ensembles, worked as a catering chef, owned and operated a catering company, and served as the registrar at U. of Massachusetts, Longy School of Music, Babson College and Harvard Graduate School of Education. In “retirement”, he was a staff pianist at the U. of Redlands Music School (CA) before moving to Santa Fe, where he is a sought-after collaborative pianist. He has served on the boards of directors for Emmanuel Church, Boston; The Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Boston; The Gay Men’s Chorus, Palm Springs; The Desert Winds Freedom Band, Palm Springs; Santa Fe Desert Chorale; and Santa Fe Pro Musica.
