SFNF News:

SANTA FE — Forest Road (FR) 122 in Holy Ghost Canyon situated in a steep canyon right along Holy Ghost Creek, 16 miles north of Pecos on N.M. 63 and FR 122 on the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District will be temporarily closed Tuesday, Aug. 4, through Thursday, Aug. 6 for repair work.

The work to re-stabilize one section of the road damaged by flooding after the 2013 Tres Lagunas wildfire should be completed within that timeframe, weather permitting.

The closure is necessary to accommodate the heavy machinery required for the road work.  Private vehicles will not be able to use the road, and recreationists will not have access to the Holy Ghost Canyon campground, group campground or trailheads in the area. Safety is a priority on the Santa Fe National Forest, and exceptions to the closure will be made for emergency traffic.

Forest engineers are also planning to repair four additional sites in Holy Ghost Canyon later in August. When that work has been scheduled, the forest will issue additional information on related road closures.
