Teatro Paraguas is pleased to host a poetry reading with Cindy Huyser from Austin, Texas, and
two renowned Santa Fe poets, Tina Carlson and Mary Morris. The free reading takes place at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20 at Teatro Paraguas.
Cindy Huyser is the author of the full-length poetry collection, Cartography (3: A Taos Press, 2025), the contest-winning chapbook, Burning Number Five: Power Plant Poems (Blue Horse Press, 2014), co-author of the collaborative limited-edition chapbook XIII: Taylor Swift-Inspired Poems (Float Press, April 26, 2025), and co-editor of Bearing the Mask: Southwestern Persona Poems (Dos Gatos Press, 2016). She holds an MFA from Pacific University.
Tina Carlson is a New Mexico poet. She is the author of three full-length collections of poetry: Ground, Wind, This Body (UNM Press, 2017), We Are Meant to Carry Water (3: A Taos Press), a collaboration with 2 other NM poets, and A Guide to Tongue Tie Surgery (UNM Press, 2023) which won first place in the NM/AZ book award for poetry. Her chapbook, Obsidian, was by Dancing Girl Press in 2024. Her work has been published in SWWIM, Ilanot Review and Verse Daily, among others. She is an editor of the online journal Unbroken.
Mary Morris is the author of four books of poetry, most recently “Lanterns in the Night Market.” She received the Rita Dove Award, New Mexico-Arizona Book Award, Wheelbarrow Book Prize, and Western Humanities Review Poetry Prize. Her poems have been published in Massachusetts Review, North American Review, Poetry, Poetry Daily, and Prairie Schooner. Mary was invited to read at the Library of Congress which aired on National Public Radio.
