Teach Plus To Host Economic Mobility Summit At SFCC

TEACH+ News:

After a successful June launch in Hobbs, Teach Plus New Mexico is bringing its Economic Mobility Summit Series to northern New Mexico to align education and workforce systems so students can build real careers and economic security.

The summit convenes educators, business leaders, policymakers, and community partners with three clear goals: build meaningful connections to foster collaboration, deepen understanding of education and workforce pathways through student experiences and post-secondary data, and collect diverse perspectives to strengthen college and career readiness systems across the state.

The second in the Economic Mobility Summit Series is 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Santa Fe Community College with a full-day event titled: “Bridging Education and Industry: Cross Sector Summit for Economic Mobility.”

This Summit is for Teach Plus New Mexico Executive Director Hope Morales, students, Teach Plus teacher leaders, educational experts, community and business leaders. It features a student-led panel exploring youth perspectives and aspirations, especially around emerging technologies and STEM fields; data-driven presentation by the Legislative Education Study Committee about postsecondary success in northern New Mexico; information about the state’s College and Career Readiness (CCR) system from the New Mexico Public Education Department; and a cross-sector panel with education, business, and community leaders focused on efforts to improve CCR and postsecondary success for students.

The Santa Fe summit is the second of four convenings Teach Plus is hosting in 2025-2026 to align education and workforce systems statewide to improve economic mobility for students.

The mission of Teach Plus is to empower excellent, experienced, and diverse teachers to take leadership over key policy and practice issues that affect their students’ success.
