COMMUNITY News:
Free Taiji and Qigong practices begin next week at the Pavilion at Ashley Pond Park:
- Thursdays 10-11 a.m., beginning May 5;
- Saturdays 10-11 a.m. beginning May 7; and
- Mondays 7-8 p.m. beginning May 9.
The program is for adults and children age 8 and up and no previous experience necessary.
Follow along, beginning with a walk around the pond to pick up trash, followed by simple stretching and the Taiji Qigong 18 Form routine. Go over the Yang-style 24 Form Taiji sequence twice, with limited instructions.
Instructor KokHeong McNaughton has been practicing and teaching different forms of Taiji and Qigong for many years. She is offering this opportunity for the community to join her and her students to practice and experience these ancient forms of Chinese healing arts.
In case of bad weather, the sessions will be moved indoors to the Unitarian Church. Follow her tweets by sending a text message “follow @SifuKokHeong” to 40404.
