Switch Replacement Requires Outage On North Mesa Oct. 7

COUNTY News:

Many North Mesa residents will be without electricity during the business day on Tuesday, Oct. 7, as Electric Distribution Division crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) conduct necessary work on the electrical system.

Properties from the Broadview neighborhood east to the end of the mesa are all within the area that will be without electricity for the day.

DPU’s linemen will replace a failed electrical switch on San Ildefonso east of Broadview. Two other aging switches along San Ildefonso will be upgraded to safer, new configurations. Those switches are at Sioux Street and Oro Court.

This work is not expected to have any impact on traffic. The work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and be finished by 4 p.m. DPU staff will notify residents about the planned outage in advance by phone, text or email, and those residents with no contact information on their utility accounts will receive informational door hangers.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the planned outage may contact Engineering Associate Mariano Montoya at 505.709.8690.
