Swatch Salon Offers Nail Art And Stress-Free Atmosphere

CHAMBER News:

When Lydia Duffy began working in cosmetology five years ago, she didn’t yet know exactly where it would take her.

She had always been drawn to creative work – through her other business Citrus & Honey, which produces handmade fiber arts, as well as through singing and piano playing – but when she began working in salons, she found a passion for nail art.

“I did hair for a small portion of time, but I just always kept coming back to nails,” Duffy said.

Duffy wanted the flexibility of being her own boss and the pride of owning her own small business. Swatch Salon Nail Lounge was born out of the love she found in working with people, and wanting to cultivate a safe space, both environmentally and emotionally, where those people could relax and destress.

“I didn’t want people to feel like they were being forced to relax,” she said. “I wanted to create a space where they could just come, take a load off. I work a lot with mothers who get little time to take care of themselves.”

The products she has available in her salon are all natural and vegan, both for in-house use and available for purchase. At this time, Duffy only provides manicure services, but has plans to expand to pedicures in the future. She is currently the only aesthetician working in her business, so she is available Wednesday-Friday by appointment only. As her client base has grown, she also offers appointments on Saturdays by request.

Swatch Salon offers express or classic manicures in gel or regular polish. When designing nail art, Duffy requests photos of desired designs, but will take creative liberty in the final imagery.
